Gluteus minimus

Muscle function: Hip abduction and internal rotation. Control of Ilium and pelvis stability during one leg stance and gait. Control of Fibula through Lateral line.

Muscle origin: Gluteal surface of ilium between the anterior and inferior gluteal lines

Nerve innervation: L4-S1 (Lovett reactor C1-2)

Organ relationship: Sex organs and lungs – T2-L4, S2-4 and Vagus

    • Sympathetic: male T10-L4 / female T5-L4
    • Parasympathetic: S2-4
  • Lungs
    • Sympathetic: T2-6
    • Parasympathetic: Vagus

Primary inhibatory muscles: Psoas major (both sides), Adductor magnus, Tensor fascie, Piriformis, Peroneus

Anterior part
Client is supine and test leg is extended and placed in 25 deg. hip flexion, 15 deg. abduction and neutral hip rotation. Fiksate on the opposite leg with one hand and apply pressure towards adduction with the other hand.
Posterior part
Client is supine and test leg is extended and placed in 25 deg. hip flexion, 15 deg. abduction and full external hip rotation. Fiksate on the opposite leg with one hand and apply pressure towards adduction with the other hand.
