Gluteus Medius

Muscle function: Hip abduction and hip internal/external rotation. Control of Ilium and Pelvis stability during gain and control of the Fibula through “Lateral line”.

Muscle origin: Gluteal surface of the Ilium.

Muscle insertion: Anterior part of the greater trochantor of the Femur and fascially continues into the IT band.

Nerve innervation: L4-S1 (Lovett reactor C1-C2)

Organ relationship: Sex organs, Gallbladder and Lungs – T2-L4, S2-4 and Vagus

Anterior part
Client is supine with the test leg extended and placed in 30 deg. abduction and full internal rotation of the hip. Fiksate with one hand on the other leg and apply pressure towards adduction with the other hand.
Medial part
Client is supine with the test leg extended and placed in 30 deg. abduction and neutral hip rotation. Fiksate the other leg with one hand and apply pressure towards adduction with the other hand.
Posterior part
Client is supine with the test leg extended and placed in 30 deg. abduction and full external rotation of the hip. Fiksate the other leg with on hand and apply pressure towards adduction with the other hand.
