Biceps brachii

Muscle origin
Long head: from the Supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula.
Short head: from the apex of the Coracoid process of the scapula

Muscle insertion
Radial tuberosity of the radius and deep fascia of the forearm.

Muscle function
Flexion of the shoulder and elbow. Supination of forearm. Stability of AC joint through Acromioclavicular ligament.

Nerver innvervation
C5-C6 (Lovett reactor T12-L1)

Primary muscle type
Phasic / Mixed type (50-60%)

Short head
Client is supine with the elbow in a 90 deg. flexion and forearm in full supination. Stabilize the elbow and apply pressure around the wrist area towards elbow extension.
Long head
Client is supine with the elbow in a 60 deg. flexion and full supination of the forearm. Bring the entire arm towards shoulder flexion until the client starts to internally rotate the arm. Client must stay in this position as you apply pressure around the wrist area towards shoulder extension – trying to bring the arm back down by the side again.
