Adductor Longus

Muscle funcion: Hip adduction and external rotation, control of Ilium and thereby also the Pubic and SI joint.

Muscle origin: Body of pubis on the inferior to pubic crest and lateral to the pubic symphysis

Muscle insertion: Medial lip on the middle third of linea aspera of femur

Nerve innervation: L2-4 (Lovett reactor C2-4)

Organ relationship: Small intestine (Ileum) and Sex organs – T8-L4, S2-4 and Vagus

  • Small intestine
    • Sympathetic: T8-11
    • Parasympathetic: Vagus
  • Sex organs
    • Sympathetic: male T10-L4 / female T5-L4
    • Parasympathetic: S2-4
Upper muscle fibers
Both feet are placed sligth to opposite side of test leg. Test leg is extended with full external hip rotation. Fiksate the opposite leg with one hand and apply pressure on the test leg toward abduction. (Right leg is test leg on image above).
Lower muscle fibers
Client is supine. Both feet places sligth to opposite side of test leg. Test leg is extended with neutral hip rotation. Fiksate the opposite leg with one hand and apply pressure on the test leg toward abduction. (Right leg is test leg on image above).
